When I was packing for our move south everyone was trying so hard to be helpful. Telling me that we would not need our winter clothes, coats, hats, gloves and thermals. Also our kerosene heater or our small electric heaters. Well I would like for them to tell me that now. It was 19 degrees here this morning in the always warm south, Yeah always warm in not true!
I held my ground and brought all that stuff with me and we are all very glad I did. My son has been working outside in 20-30 degree weather and freezing his butt off until he mentioned he was freezing at work, I prompty when and pulled out his winter coat, hat and thick leather and fleece work gloves. Now he is staying warmer at work,
I have been working outside here at home splitting wood, gathering up pine cones and twigs for starting fires in the fire place at night. The first cold day I did this it was 31 degrees out and I dang near froze. Now I do it while wearing my thermals and long heavy winter coat and thick winter gloves. I stay nice and warm now while working outside.
We have not needed to use our kerosene heater yet but I am sure we will at some point. There are always power outages here. Some lasting for hours. Being out in the rural area we are always some of the last ones to get power back.
If I had let them talk me out of bring all our preps we would be in big trouble right now as we do not have the money to replace all of them. No one really knows our needs but us. It is the same with you. No one else will know your needs in an emergency besides you so if some one tries to talk you out of your preps just smile sweetly and tell them you might not need them but they make you feel better because you know you will have them if you need them and go about your prepping as usual.
Never, never let anyone talk you out of keeping any of your preps. They don't pay your bills or feed and dress you so they have no right to tell you how to prep.
