This is a question that everyone who stores enough food for 6 months, a year or more has to ask them selves. Where do I put it all? Believe it or not there are quite a few options.
If you are lucky like me and have a room that see little use you can turn that into a storage pantry. You can buy shelving systems of build your own. You can even repurpose and old piece of furniture into a place to store your food storage. As you can see from the pictures below I am using bought shelving and repurposing old entertainment centers that we no longer used.

Of course you can see from the pictures I will not win any awards for decorating but I could care less about that. All that matters to me is that I have enough to feed my family through hard times.
If you are thinking you can not store a year's worth of food because you don't have a spare room think again. I have seen many ways people are creatively storing food for hard times. Below are just a few that I have seen.
Beds placed on risers so that home canned and store bought canned goods can be stored under neath. Add a long dust ruffle and no one will see them.
Books and DVD's pulled forward on bookselves and food placed behind them. They are hidden from view.
Kitchen cabinets that have open space above them are used to place decorative tins or baskets with food hidden inside them. You can even place the baskets and tins filled with food on top of china cabinets or tall bookselves.
Any unused space in bedroom closets or linen closet.
Cedar chests used for coffee tables and food stored inside. You will only want to store canned good in there because other foods may pick up the scent and taste of cedar.
I even seen one lady get very creative and pull the baseboard off at the bottom of her kitchen cabinets, fill the space inside with store bought canned goods which she laid on their sides then put the baseboards back in place. She did this so when SHTF no one will be able to find all of her food storage.
If you have a two story house you might be able to open up the space under the stairs to build shelves to store food.
Ottomans that open up for storage can be used.
Canned goods can be stored under some couches if there is enough room.
Decorative milk cans can be placed around the house and food stored inside.
The list is endless really. All you have to do is look around your home and think creatively and I bet you will find lots of places you can store food that you didn't think of before. One word of warning though.
You maybe the only one in your neighborhood that is thinking and preparing for a future where you will not be able to run to the local store and pick up something for dinner any more. So make sure to keep at least half of your food storage hidden.
When SHTF your neighbors will be coming to you when they run out. It is going to be hard to refuse them but remember you have yourself and your own family to think about. Keep a small supply of food that you can show them but hide the rest.
If you feel you must help them offer them a bag of dried beans. If they don't take that then they are not really hungry.
Though I have showed you some of my food storage I have not showed you all of it. I never let anyone, not even my own family know just how much I have stored. That way I am prepared for when SHTF.
