This is the one day of the year that I hate to see come. I remember
what happened on this day in 2001 when the WTC was hit. I was watching
it on the news when the second plane hit. I fell to my knees knowing
instantly that our country was under attack. Being a mother, one of the
first thoughts that came to my mind was how many parents were going to
lose their child and how many children were going to lose their
parents. The next moment I realized that America would soon be going
to war and I could lose my own son because at that time he was over
in Kosovo serving. I was so afraid he would be sent to Iraq.
He was but it was a couple of years later and we almost lost him there
when an IED hit the humvee he was riding in. Luckily someone had
tried to improve on the IED and messed it up to so that it was not as
potent as it should have been and my son and all his men survived.
Then last year the terror came back to me when Benghazi was hit by
terrorists. While the loss of life was small compared to the WTC, it
brought home to me the knowledge that America is not now nor ever will be
again a safe haven from the senseless slaughter that has been going on for
hundreds of years in other countries.
Now some of you might wonder why I'm babbling about Sept.11 and why
I'm talking about Sept.11. America can and will face another Sept 11 in it's
future. Once it happened, it woke others up to the fact that they to can do it if
they plan well enough. It might not happen on Sept 11th but it will happen.
Terrorists are much like children. If they see a child doing something
they want to do it too. They don't care about the punishment for being bad
little girls and boys. All they care about is proving they can do it and getting
their jollies from doing something they know they're not supposed to do.
For that very reason, we need to prep in all ways. Not just store up a
year or two worth of food and water. We need to be ready to live a
completely different way of life. Life without power, life without
police protection, life without a fire department, life without
farmable land for awhile, life with no one but ourselves to protect our
loved ones.
Every aspect of our daily lives as we now know it is in constant
danger of being taking away from us. Water and food sources can be contaminated, the power grid can be taken down and the list goes on. If we
are not prepared to live more like our ancestors we'll have no hope of
survival.
Most Americans feel that since we are a super power (or at least we
once were) it can't happen here but Sept 11, 2001 proves that belief to
be a false one. The days of Hitler prove it can. Don't forget he once ran a
super power. America may one day face its own Holocaust. If we're not
prepared, the same will happen to us that happened to the Jewish people
during Hitler's regime.
So remember that while you're stocking up on food, water, defensive
items and so on to also focus on learning to live with out the modern
conveniences you have now. The local stores may no longer exist,
there may be no more schools, no more gas stations, no more electric or gas,
no more phones, internet and so on. No more big farms supplying our fruits, veggies, meat, eggs, milk, flour, sugar, and other provisions.
So take time today to thank some higher power that you're still alive
and free. And take the time to focus on how you will get by should
another Sept 11th happen in this country. Think about the
skills you'll need, how much you have on hand right now
to get you by for how ever long you can. Think about what life will be
like with no more electric or gas, no grocery stores, hardware stores, home
improvement stores, Walmart, and no more money and learn how to
get by without them.
Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the people who lost loved ones on Sept. 11, 2001 and Sept. 11, 2012. Your sacrifice and those of your loved ones who paid the ultimate price has not gone unnoticed. God Bless America, her military, and her people.
