It doesn't matter if you believe in Adam & Eve or cave men they both would have had to do the same to survive. They would have had to hunt for food be it berries or meat. They would have had to fashion weapons or tools in order to do what they needed to survive.
Same goes with homesteading and prepping. People homesteaded new lands all the time and because most of them would be so far from bigger areas they learned how to prepare food for long term storage for lean times and seasonal changes. They could not make a quick run to the local market to buy food.
Prepping, survivalism and homesteading maybe considered concepts but in truth they are actually skills that have a myrid of other skills included in them. All these skills have been passed down from generation to generation except not so much in the last 40-50 years. We have become so use to all the modern ways of doing things that we have not focused on making sure the next generation learns those skills that so many of our ancestors learned. Like canning your own foods, dehydrating, trapping for furs, hunting, tool making, how to make weapons, candle making and many, many more.
We live in an uncertain world now. We never know from one day to the next if another World War wil break out, another Great Depression will happen or if the power grid goes completely down for years. Then of course there are things that happened that no man has any control over like floods, draughts, hurricanes and so on.
Leaning the skills that our ancestors used on a daily basis will help us better our chances of surviving and we can pass them on to our children and grandchilder to better their chances.
So remember when you are thinking about learning to prep, survive in nature or learning how to homestead that life comes with no garuntee that its going to be 100% smooth sailing and that every need you have will be met. You should know how to meet your own needs and that of your loved ones.
